Blended Model: Online & Offline

Online
Achieve Online offers an comprehensive online high school program enriched with numerous elective opportunities. The following features may be included in each online high school course:

  • Accelerated Learning –  Able to master unlimited courses in a semester within student ability
  • Streaming video
  • Interactive simulations
  • Audio to go along with online text
  • Pre-recorded lessons through digital whiteboard, such as eClass, for each objective
  • Instructor office hours for individual or small group tutoring
  • 24/7 Tutoring
  • Mastery-based learning available
  • Multiple options available in each assignment to fit individual learning styles
  • Monitored chat rooms/threaded discussions to interact with other students

Offline
Sometimes a class requires offline work, and at other times, the offline instruction is a choice made by the student and educational facilitator.

Offline instruction comes in many forms. Many high school students work or are in internships where they can receive school credit. Sometimes students attend classes in their community, such as taking a karate class as part of their PE program. Other offline learning includes textbooks, science and math kits, art instruction, classes at the local junior college, and countless other options

Mastery Learning
Students may test out of lessons, or entire courses through the credit-by-exam option, if they are able to demonstrate mastery of the material. Students also must show continuous mastery of their lessons, and they are given the opportunity to revisit lessons or to approach learning a concept in a new way to help them meet this goal. This is especially important for classes requiring sequential skills, as is often seen in mathematics; a student mastering the material at one level allows for greater success at the next level.

Spotlight: Education in the Community

Local Businesses
Community instructors from local businesses provide classes such as karate, ceramics, swimming, music lessons, and more.

College Credit
Many students also opt to take classes at their local community college, and these credits can be transferred back to their program with Achieve Online.

Vocational
Technical skills centers, ROTC programs, and other opportunities exist for hands-on, vocational education.

Curriculum Vendors

Achieve Online provides a comprehensive program through numerous curriculum and course providers. Current offerings and new possibilities are always being evaluated to ensure that students are always receiving the best instruction available.

Field Trips

Achieve Online organizes field trips for experiential learning opportunities.

One popular trip is the marine science floating lab where students spend a half day on a boat engaged in a series of hands-on learning experiences. Other field trip examples include zoos, museums, science centers, and more.
