University vs Junior College

College-bound students want to do their best to prepare themselves for college-level learning, but students planning to go directly to a university need to carefully plan their coursework to ensure that they meet the minimum entrance requirements.

For example, a university-bound student should take two years of foreign language whereas a junior college-bound student can enter college with a diploma regardless of what specific courses were completed in high school. University-bound students work closely with their educational facilitator and academic counselor in selecting courses that will meet the requirements set forth by the universities that the student is considering attending.

Career Exploration

Achieve Online students have access to the Education and Career Opportunities System (ECOS), a comprehensive resource that allows them to research careers and colleges, prepare for tests, and obtain financial aid information.

Students can also tailor their education program towards their career goals. This can include taking courses specifically aligned to these goals, participating in internship and work-based programs for credit, and taking classes towards a certificate of specialization.

Academic Counselor

Your academic counselor works with you and your educational facilitator to ensure that the coursework and learning experiences you select are aligned with your college and career goals.

As you approach graduation, you will communicate more frequently with your academic counselor. Also, counselors often hold information sessions on graduation and college topics; watch for announcements via email and on the events page.

Certificates

Certificates of Specialization can enhance your resume or college application, and they are a fantastic way of focusing your electives towards a meaningful learning experience.
